"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience."
-Eleanor Roosevelt
about
The moments in life we cherish and remember forever? When time seems to stop.
We're drawn out of our skull into what's around us, the distractions are gone, and we are purely present. It's like the "pocket" musicians talk about and the indescribable feeling of being "in it."
There in some pocket of space and time, we're something like truly happy. We feel whole, fulfilled, invincible.
Unfortunately, most of life today is arguably one big distraction from all that.
modern.peasant is here for one purpose: to draw in to those moments, not distract.
They don't exist here..or anywhere on a screen.
What's here simply points to them and encourages you to draw into your own.

"Education is a process through which truth is not introduced into the mind from without, but is 'led out' from within. The mind then finds revealed within itself a knowledge both of its own nature and of the universe, a knowledge otherwise clouded by obscurities of mundane existence."
- Richard Tarnas
adventure trips
modern.peasant believes one of the greatest ways to serve its purpose -- drawing in to the best life has to offer us -- is to immerse people in natural-world experiences that push us out of our comfort zones physically, emotionally, and intellectually.
Not only might you find peace and joy, there are unexpected, important lessons to be learned when we humbly explore places we have never been. We don't have to stop learning as we grow older and it doesn't have to be such a scary task.
Richard Tarnas writes in Passion of the Western Mind that:
"Education is a process through which truth is not introduced into the mind from without, but is 'led out' from within. The mind then finds revealed within itself a knowledge both of its own nature and of the universe, a knowledge otherwise clouded by obscurities of mundane existence."

The Story of the Rocky Mountain Wolf
Fall 2025
After centuries of systematic extermination efforts, the Rocky Mountains are experiencing the return of the gray wolf to its ecosystem. Similar to horses and even domestic dogs, wolves are wondrous creatures who, given the chance, seem to speak to people in a way hard to put into words. Many cultures from past and present revere the wolf.
Get the chance to learn about wolves from both afar and up close, wild and captive. Travel into Yellowstone National Park in hopes of seeing wolves in their natural habitat before heading to Mission: Wolf, a sanctuary in southern Colorado to learn about wolves (and wolf dogs) up close in a captive setting.
